Calema is the duo formed by Fradique Mendes Ferreira born in 1987 and António Mendes Ferreira, born in the capital of Sao Tome and Principe in 1992. With cadjon and guitar, they sing romantic songs to notalgiques accents marked the Semba, morna, the kizomba (Angolan zouk), the funaná and Brazilian music.
Formed in the church choirs, António Mendes Ferreira won several music competitions before creating in 2009 the Calema duo whose name evokes the waves of the ocean and expresses the romantic aspect of their compositions.
